I was just reviewing a little bit with an slightly higher level group of kids I have. It was really rather funny. We were working on "last" names and "first" names. I say it like that, because their "first" names are actually last and their "last" names actually come first. Asian names are funny like that. Plus...with respect to koreans in general, their names altogether usually only comprise of 3 sylables, last and first names together. I know how to spell my first name in korean and "brenda teacher" is the norm for how I am called. What was funny was when I asked them what my "last" name was, knowing full well that they couldn't really know it. Their response was more than comical though.

Me: What's my last name?

Whole class screaming: Buh, teacher, buh!!!

Me: huh?

Than it dawned on me that they were thinking of what would be the first sylable of my first name in written in korean, of which would normally be the last name for them. I couldn't help but laugh out loud. I guess when you think about it that way, I must be from the Buh family...

My first name spelled in korean. ºê·»´Ù (pronounced buh-ren-da) Buh would be the last name portion of things and my first name would be Ren Da. Works for me....
